Liberal Senator Jonathon Duniam moved that the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work Amendment Instrument 2022, made under the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016, be disallowed.
As a first step in implementing the Government’s election commitment to abolish the Australian Building and Construction Commission and repeal the Building and Construction Industry (Improving Productivity) Act 2016, the Government has issued the Code for the Tendering and Performance of Building Work Amendment Instrument 2022 (Amending Instrument).
The Instrument makes changes to the obligations imposed on the ABCC, Commonwealth, Funding Recipients, Contractors and subcontractors regarding the procurement and delivery of Commonwealth Funded Building Work.
The motion was voted down with 34 votes against and 31 in favour.
