Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John moved that any documents and communication held by the International Command of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) related to training, capacity building, the provision of equipment and technology to Myanmar police be tabled by 14 September 2022.
The government advised that since 1 February 2021 the Australian Federal Police International Command has not provided the Myanmar police force with any training, capacity building, advisory activities, purchasing or gifting of any equipment or technology. It also advised the AFP International Command does not engage with the regime or military.
The motion was voted down with 31 against and 16 in favour.
