Greens Senator Nick McKim moved to repeal the stage 3 tax cuts as a matter of urgency.
The stage 3 tax cuts will cost $244 billion over the next ten years, and give the highest earning Australians a $9,000 tax cut. Repealing the tax cuts could fund immediate cost of living relief and could potentially go towards building affordable housing and making childcare free.
The motion was voted down with 39 votes against and 14 in favour.
Senator Pocock voted YES.
