Dear Chief Minister Barr and Minister Burke,

Canberra's culturally diverse community is growing fast, and we don't have the facilities to support them. As the national capital of a proudly multicultural country, Canberra needs a multicultural centre that can host the big community celebrations that hold our communities together.

Our multicultural communities have been asking for a purpose-built multicultural centre for over a decade, and despite being promised, nothing has been delivered.

Renovating the existing Fitzroy Pavilion at EPIC with limited consultation will not deliver the facility our community needs. This location is not fit for purpose, is often unavailable to our communities, and does not have the most basic requirement the community has asked for like a commercial kitchen to cater large community events.

Canberra's diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and we need a dedicated Multicultural Centre to support multicultural communities to connect, celebrate and showcase their diverse cultural events.

Please give our national capital a multicultural centre the country can be proud of.
