PROACT ENDORSES POCOCK FOR SECOND RUN

Senator David Pocock has thanked proACT for endorsing him to run for re-election as a community-backed independent senator for the ACT at the next federal election. Following consultation with its members, proACT confirmed on the weekend they would be re-endorsing Senator Pocock.

“We are delighted to again endorse David Pocock as the community-backed independent for the Senate at the next federal election” said Clare Doube, the co-founder of proACT.

“There is overwhelming support in the proACT community for Senator Pocock’s work as a strong representative who listens to the ACT community, acts on the issues important to us and who stands up for the ACT.”

Senator Pocock said he was deeply grateful for the backing to recontest the next election.

“It’s a tremendous privilege to represent a community I love,” Senator Pocock said.

“I have loved engaging with the ACT community over this term of parliament and pushing hard on the issues that matter most to them,” Senator Pocock said.

“The ACT has been overlooked and taken for granted for so long. We’ve started turning that around and showing politics can be done differently, but there are still some big changes we need to secure. From things like better, more affordable access to GPs to more investment in housing and infrastructure like a national Convention Centre that our city needs to grow.

“On national issues like environment, integrity, cost-of-living and looking out for the most vulnerable in our community we’ve had some wins but need to go so much further.

“With support from our community I want to use a second term to force more ambition from government across a whole range of issues from gambling advertising to electoral reform, housing to protecting Nature.”
