Please come along for my fourth and final Town Hall of 2025 to celebrate the launch of our community campaign to build a purpose-built Multicultural Centre in the ACT, reflect on the final parliamentary sitting weeks of the year and look ahead to priorities for 2026.
Quarterly town halls are part of my ongoing commitment to being accessible: providing updates, getting feedback and listening to your concerns.
While all questions and topics are welcome, this Town Hall will focus on a few key areas:
- Launching our community campaign for a purpose-built Multicultural Centre in Canberra. For more than a decade, Canberra’s multicultural communities have been asking for a space to meet and hold events. Following their advocacy, at this Town Hall, we will be launching a petition and survey to continue pushing this issue. I’ve been hearing from Canberrans that it’s time for the ACT Government to make good on its promise of a purpose-built Multicultural Centre for Canberra.
I will be joined by special guest speaker, Adam Haddow. Adam, National President of the Australian Institute of Architects, will talk about the power of architecture and precincts to bring people together, promote social cohesion and celebrate culture, as well as what goes into making such a precinct successful.
- A wrap on Parliament for 2025. Despite the government’s light-on sitting calendar and limited legislative agenda, I’ve been pushing hard on the issues that matter to Canberrans including at Senate Estimates, through the launch of my voluntary Lobbyist Pass Register, the major parties voting against my Duty of Care Bill, the opposition and crossbench supporting my motion in the Senate to pressure the Government on releasing the Briggs report into jobs for mates by extending question time, getting booted from the Parliamentary Sports Club for raising concerns about cash-for-access and much more! At my final Town Hall for 2025, we’ll recap the last sitting weeks of the year and answer your questions including on recent changes like the new support at home packages with their co-payments, extensions to GP bulk billing and more
From 5:30pm, we will have a community meal, with dishes provided by local multicultural groups. Formalities will commence at 6:30pm.
If you are unable to make it in person, the event will be streamed live at this link.
As always, I want to hear from you as part of these events so please submit and upvote your questions on slido at this link.
