Meet your new Senator!

Join me for our first community town hall meeting to talk about the issues that matter to you.

This first quarterly community town hall meeting is part of my commitment to do politics differently.

This is about helping to make politics more open, accountable and community-driven.

My next town hall meetings will be held in Tuggeranong in August, Gungahlin in November and Belconnen in February 2023.

These town hall meetings will give me an opportunity to provide an update on what has been happening, and for you to ask questions, contribute ideas and keep me accountable in the lead up to the first sitting week of the new parliament beginning on the 26 July 2022.

All welcome. RSVP required.

AGENDA

The local Mulga Scout group will be running a fundraising sausage sizzle from 5.45pm. Help them raise some money for their activities by grabbing a bite to eat.

After doors open at 6pm, my campaign running mate and ProACT Co-Founder Clare Doube will kick off formal proceedings at 6.30 pm, starting with a Welcome to Country from Ngunnawal Elder Serena Williams.

I will then run through a quick recap of what we know is coming up on the legislative agenda with short guest presentations on a few key topics, including from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Dr Robert Glasser and Aunty Pat Anderson AO:

  • Paid domestic and family violence leave
  • Jobs and Skills Australia
  • Aged care reforms
  • Uluru Statement from the Heart
  • Housing Australia Future Fund and Shared Equity Scheme
  • Territory Rights
  • 43% by 2030

Send in your questions!

After that, I’ll be opening up to questions.

We will kick off with the top-voted questions (as submitted by you) – you can submit your questions and vote using this link (event code is #Pocock).

Please note the cut-off for submitting questions is 5pm on Wednesday, but you will be able to continue voting on your favourites until the Q&A segment starts.

We will also open to questions and comments from the floor – please keep these brief to enable as many people as possible to contribute.

Formal proceedings will wrap up around 7.45pm, but the BBQ and the conversation will continue informally afterwards.

Staying safe

With high levels of COVID-19, respiratory and other illnesses currently circulating in the community, I would ask that you stay home if you are feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms. Mask wearing is recommended in indoor spaces like Albert Hall. Please remember to practice good hand hygiene and social distancing.

Proceedings will be live-streamed via both my Facebook page and on Zoom using this link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88092670912?pwd=UzFVY1FJY2tXSk52dk83UU1UREZIQT09

I am dedicated to ensuring that these events are inclusive and safe spaces that can be attended by anyone. If there’s anything I or my team can do to ensure you are able to attend and get the most out of the experience (e.g. by having an AUSLAN interpreter available), please email [email protected].
