Yes23 campaign kicks into full swing!

The Canberra Yes23 campaign is now in full swing. If you support a ‘Yes’ vote at the upcoming referendum on the Voice to Parliament and want to get involved in campaigning, now is the time! I will be out around Canberra and the region supporting the ‘Yes’ vote.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to make lasting change by honouring the request from Australia’s First Peoples to move forward as a nation.

While the date of the Referendum isn’t locked in yet, it’s looking increasingly likely that it will be October 14, which means there are just 60 days until the nation votes.

This will be a defining moment in Australian history, so if you’ve ever thought about getting involved, please consider doing so now.

You don’t need any experience and there are a bunch of ways you can get involved including letterboxing, door-knocking, distributing corflutes, events/stalls, fundraising and phone banking.

Yes23 now has official campaigns running in each of the ACT electorates as well as neighbouring Eden-Monaro. You can register your interest in volunteering in your respective electorate via the links below:

If you would like to take on a leadership role, you can also reach out to the captains in each area through their emails:

The Uluru Statement from the Heart is an invitation to all Australians to recognise First Peoples in the constitution and enshrine in our constitution a Voice to Parliament. It’s both symbolic and deeply practical.

The referendum should be above politics and led by the people of Australia. Yes23 are aiming to do that by coordinating a grassroots campaign.

I will be joining the team at stalls and events across Canberra in the lead up to the referendum. I’ll also be on Voice panels in Orange and Braidwood in the coming weeks, so if you know anyone in those areas, please encourage them to come along.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch the recording of the Referendum and Voice to Parliament Information Night I held in March with Aunty Pat Ansderson, Aunty Violet Sheridan and Professor Megan Davis, you can watch it here

I look forward to working with you to ensure we can look back on this referendum with pride.

Sincerely,

David
