After the Government announced it would abolish the Australian Building and Construction Commission, I raised concerns about how safety and productivity issues in the construction industry would be monitored and addressed moving forward.
At the Jobs and Skills Summit, I proposed the establishment of a tripartite construction forum - comprised of business, union and government representatives - to address safety and productivity on work sites in lieu of the abolition of the building watchdog. Employment Minister Tony Burke agreed to the proposal and I look forward to the establishment of the forum.
