Hello,

As our first monthly event for the Inner North region, we are going to be meeting at the Capital Region Farmers Market (just search for that if you have not been there before as the location provided on this system sends you somewhere else).

I just wanted to sketch out some thinking for this first event (they won't all need an essay!).

This event is really all about signalling to other Pocock supporters that an election is coming and there is work to be done. If we can recruit new, or reconnect with past, volunteers at the event that would be totally brilliant (we will have QR codes they can scan) but as long as there are supporters visible in shirts as we go about our purchases that will be getting a message across.

If you don't have a shirt by that time (more are on order I understand) you can still help. Just gravitate towards the people who are in shirts and say "hi" to help create a buzz.

We won't be campaigning at this event - it is more about conveying to other supporters that there are lots of Pocock supporters out there and they can join too.  We are not actually allowed to conduct a political event within the confines of the market but there is nothing to stop you wearing a Pocock t-shirt and having convivial discussions as you go about your day.  If voters do want to engage in discussions we will do that outside by the ticket office.

If it works for you, try to leave and depart by Light Rail, that adds to the event visibility and you may meet other supporters.

We chose the Farmers Market for the first event  as that is the place where supporters said they had constantly met fellow supporters since 2022 so we are starting on home ground! For any of you who haven't been involved in political messaging this is a perfect way to begin -- perhaps along with a slice of sour cherry pie!

Key contacts at the event include Sam Beaver and myself as co-leads and Jess Ward-Jones from David's office (many of you may remember Jess as a volunteer like the rest of us from 2022).

Cheers,

Craig McGarty
