2025 Election “Youthquake” Forum

For the first time in our history, Millennial and Gen Z voters will outnumber boomers at the federal election on 3 May.

This means young people have the opportunity to influence policy and the shape of the next parliament like never before.

Monash University has dubbed it the “Youthquake” and Team Pocock is here for it!

The status quo clearly isn’t working as we see the intergenerational divide continue to widen.

Short-term pre-election vote buying policies from the major parties won’t deliver the reform young people are calling for to create a better future.

In one of two big campaign events (the other is on housing), I will be hosting a special youth-focussed forum at ANU.

It’s going to be a great night of ideas and community. Food (hello Fricken Chicken) and drink (Capital Brewing Co. Alc-Less) on me.

I’m bringing together a panel of experts to platform young people’s perspectives as we talk about the challenges and solutions you face.

From student debt to placement poverty, housing stress to student safety on campus, youth mental health and anxiety over climate - we want to cover all the big topics.

I also want to hear your solutions, so as part of the event we are running a one-minute pitch competition.

I’m inviting you to submit your pitch for a solution on any big issue you like and upvote the ones that resonate most with you. The top ten most popular pitches will have the opportunity to present them on the night.

Submit your pitch here - it’ll say “Question” but just chuck in your policy pitch and upvote your favourites.

Please RSVP (including for your friends!) so I can make sure we don’t run out of food!

Look forward to seeing you there.
